About Us

Hello, dear readers! It is time we formally introduce ourselves. We are a group of 4th year students who all study at Aberystwyth University, Wales. None of us are originally from Wales, but we all grew to love this amazing country that we now call home. This is why we decided to tell the whole world about the beauty of Wales.

We feel that Wales doesn’t get the attention it deserves, and there’s just so much to do and see here that we felt it was necessary for us to create this blog. Read this section to find out more about us and why we chose St Davids as a theme for this blog.

Who Are We

As we already shared, we are students of the prestigious Welsh university Aberystwyth. We all met while studying there and we all come from different countries (Spain, Bulgaria, and Latvia, to be exact). We had one thing in common – we didn’t know that much about Wales before we moved here, which is pretty ironic considering the theme of the blog.

We chose Aberystwyth University based on its impeccable reputation as an institution for higher education. Did you know that Prince Charles, the next in line to the British throne, briefly studied at Aberystwyth when he was preparing to be indentured as the Prince of Wales?

So anyway, none of us was all that familiar with the history and culture of Wales, but that soon changed when we began our studies. We were initially stunned by the nature – miles long evergreen fields and majestic cliffs overlooking the aqua blue waters of Cardigan Bay. The well-preserved medieval structures, on the other hand, made us feel like explorers of the past.

We wanted other people to share our experiences, so we began encouraging our friends and relatives back in our home countries to visit Wales. However, we felt that was not enough, so we started talking about creating a blog dedicated to beautiful Wales.

Why St Davids

You might be asking yourself ‘But this blog is only about St Davids, not Wales, so why did you choose this specific town?’Well, there’s a reason why! Once we became friends, we decided to travel around the country every chance we get. We were recommended St Davids and the peninsula and we went there during our first spring break.

We were in awe of the nature and the history of the smallest British town. There are many other beautiful towns in Wales, but we chose St Davids because there’s a lot to see, and because we wanted to increase the interest in visiting this place. St Davids used to be very popular when it was first founded (6th century AD) – two pilgrimages to St Davids equaled to one to Rome, and three to Jerusalem!

Unfortunately, the town suffered from various raids throughout its history, which devastated the religious community and destroyed many historical buildings and artefacts. However, St Davids never gave up, and neither should we. We hope this blog influenced you to visit this pretty town and to learn more about it.
